BMW Spartanburg Manufacturing Plant — Paint Shop Expansion

IBI Group provided architecture and engineering services for the expansion and modification of the existing Paint Shop building to accommodate production of a new X series Sport Activity Vehicles  at the BMW  Assembly Plant in Spartanburg South Carolina.

The BMW manufacturing plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina has the second highest production output of BMW plants worldwide, currently producing approximately 1,400 vehicles per day. BMW Manufacturing is the sole global producer of several BMW X models within the BMW Group’s global production network. These vehicles are exported to more than 140 countries.

In 2014, BMW announced that they would be making an additional $1 billion investment in the facility that will make Spartanburg, South Carolina BMW’s largest US factory, increasing an annual capacity to 450,000 vehicles.

IBI Group was responsible for the architecture and engineering of the 600,000 sq ft Paint Shop expansion, including 88 bays as well as a new 26,000 sq ft Wastewater building.
